Duchy Event Cancellation - 27/01/2002

FIRST EVER EVENT TO BE CLAIMED BY BAD WEATHER

The event due to take place on Sunday 27th January at Duchy College, Cornwall, has been canceled due to the severe weather that is currently affecting much of the south coast.

There are a number of flood warnings in force in the area, and the possibility of the Tamar (Saltash) Bridge may have to close due to high wind, which would have prevented the majority of competitors reaching the event without a lengthy detour. After consultation with the Indoor Team, already en-route to their very select overnight stop (which will be missed by them as much as the event itself) the organisers took the difficult decision to postpone the event.

An alternative date will hopefully be arranged. Watch this space.

AND MORE WEATHER INVOLVEMENT

The event at Golden Cross, East Sussex, on 26/01/02, was abandoned after the first obstacle round.

The decision to abandon the event was taken as a matter of safety as a number of horses and ponies were becoming distressed by the noise of the wind and the rain on the school roof.

The results at the end of the first obstacle round will stand as the final result.

From The Web Manager

RESULTS UPDATED

All results are now available online, with the following exceptions:

  • Scottish Results - These are available on the Scottish Carriage Driving Association web site.

  • Results from Hurstbourne E.C. on November 17th 2001 and Hadlow College on November 18th 2001 - These should be available within the next few days.

Many apologies for the delay in getting the site up to date, but there has been difficulty in getting some of the results to the Web Manager.

If you are an organiser of an event, please do not forget to send the results to me. Details of how to get the results to me are available on line on-line as well as from the Secretary of the Indoor Carriage Driving Trials Club, who should also receive a copy of the results. The other reason for sending your results in to the Web Manager (who is remote from the Indoor gang) is that I also provide event details to Horse & Hound and Carriage Driving, so if your event competitors want to see their names in print, I need to see their names first!

Work has started on the web site overhaul and it is hoped that this will be completed early in February.
